Tonite the station was dumped as the boyz loaded up the rigs and headed to Derry twp. (adventure sports) for some good old fashion gun play.
The Capt & Chief formed 2 teams from the FF's in attendence. The Capts team beat the Chiefs team 3 out of 4 games. The Chief even treated the Hydrant Boys and Hose Rollers (capts team new nick name) to Ice cream after the event. A great time was had by all, while practicing team building.

Tonite while several members were attending Delmars, the remaining FF's present took the apparatus and practice Hose/Nozzle Management.
Crews had to pull two (2) handlines and
had to control the nozzles to knock
pails off of two barrels.

Box 47-6 Working Structure Fire

Today the Engine was dispatched to assist Company 47 at a working Structure Fire on Willow Cirlce in South Hanover Twp. Originally assigned R.I.T. the assignment was changed once control was marked. The Crew then assisted with Salvage and Overhual

Thank you for another successful barbecue. 340 dinners were sold at the August barbecue. The next barbecue will be September 11th. Look for the signs as a reminder
Chicken Barbecue Saturday September 11th.
The next Barbecue held at the Fire House will be Saturday Sept. 11th. Dinners will be served from approx 10 am. (usually earlier) til Sold Out. (usually around noon). Dinners are still $6 for 1/2 chicken, baked potato,and a roll. Stop by early, so you don't miss out on one of the area's Best Tasting Chicken Barbecues..!!
Swatara Twp. National Nite Out

Tonite crews loaded up the Apparatus, and took the House to Swatara Twp.'s Annual National Night Out. Several local organizations, and business set up stands, donated food, drink and other services, while the Police Dept put on various demostrations for those in attendence. Putting out the flames on Rutherfords House was a big hit with the kids again this year. Thank you to everyone who helped, and congrats to Swatara PD for putting on another outstanding show.

Tonite everyone loaded up in the rigs and played two (2) quick games of softball for the July Physical Activity. The Firefighters in attendance were split into two (2) teams. Capt 45 vs Chief 45. The Chiefs team won both games 4-3, and 3-2. A good time was had by all in attendance, along with some valuable team building.
All Firefighters please make a note, The August Physical Activity will be Lazer Tag. Those who wish to attend must sign up by Aug 22nd. Those in attendance will be split up into two (2) teams again. Apparatus will be leaving the station at 18:55 sharp.

Tonite the Engine and Squad loaded up and headed to the new development off Jefferson Street to test the Tridentone Water curtain to be used by the Decon Team. The unit worked out really well on this Hot & Humid nite.

Company 45 & Rescue 44 responded to a 2 vehicle accident with confinement, and injuries along Grayson road at the Verdelli Farms complex entrance. Upon arrival of the Rescue(44) & the Squad(45) crews split up to assist EMS with patient care, and extrication of a female confined in 1 of the vehicles. Meanwhile the Engine (45) crew cleared the roadway of debris. Both patients were packaged and transported to area hospitals for care.

The Members of Rutherford Fire, send our sincere condolences to the members of the Williamstown Fire Company (station 24) , and the family of Douglas L. Smith. Firefighter Smith suffered a cardiac arrest while responding to a structure fire Friday morning. (7-09-10). Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Firefighter smith.

Tonite the Company Physical Activity was Softball. We invited our Brothers from Chambers Hill to join us. We played 3, 4 inning games, with Chief 45's team taking 2 of 3. 20 FF's from 45 attended tonites event with an impressive number from 456. 45 had two (2) teams, The Chiefs team, and the Capt.'s team, 456 had one (1) team. Both companies had a great time, and look forward to doing it again. Thanx to everyone who showed up, remember July's activity is Softball again, and Outdoor Lazer tag scheduled for August. See you then.

Starting Tuesday June 29th the 4th Tuesday of each month will be set aside for Physical Activity nite at station 45
Schedule of events:
June 29th Softball 7 p.m , July 27th Softball, 7 p.m., Aug. 24th Lazer Tag 6:45 p.m.
All Firefighters are encourage to attend these nites, to help promote team work, and a fun way for physical fitness.
92nd Annual Dauphin County Firemens Convention Parade

Today 11 Crew members loaded up the Squad,Attack, and Engine and headed up north to Wiconisco for the 92nd Annual Dauphin County Firemens Convention Parade. The crew loaded up the Utility with coolers, fans, Easy Ups and the Grill. After the apparatus went thru judging, the Easy Up went up and the cooler (filled with food and water) and grill went into service. Once everyone made burgers, dawgs, and sausages we proceeded thru the parade and ended up coming home with Two awards. * Most Functional Engine (1st Place) in county 1994 - 1999 (E49 - 2nd)*Most Functional Attack (1st Place) in county
Congrats to Company 49 & 41 for bringing Trophies back to the Twp. It shows that our apparatus are both Good Looking and Functional.
Also thanks to Company 49 for joining us at our Curb side Barbecue. Next year Co. 41 will join us too. If they remember to pre-register...
Thanx to all the members/firefighters who helped wash and wax the rigs.
